Contents

○ Review the targets and contents of urban regeneration closely

○ Also visit the successful urban regeneration areas in Germany (Hamburg Hafen City/Freiburg/Berlin Potsdamer Platz/Hannover/Tübingen) and investigate the spot.

○ It also collects data through relevant agencies and analyzes the specific goals and strategies of urban regeneration, how to implement them, and related contents (space composition/ urban architecture and traffic/ energy system / cityscape/ environment/ industry/ park green space)and conducted interviews with related experts, participating local officials and residents.

Results

Identification of common characteristics of urban regeneration in Germany

○ It is a long-term project to gather opinions of experts and opinions of citizens for more than several years until the final master plan of the urban regeneration is derived

○ Establish the philosophy and principles of urban regeneration. Germany has been promoting the urban renewal projects that reflects the flow of the EU's response and the UN's Rio meeting with the goal of 'sustainability' by introducing various environmental factors while focusing on Compact City.

○ History - Cultural considerations play a key role in the formulation of urban regeneration strategies, as well as organic plans linked to localities within the city's master plan

○ To increase the density of urban areas to preserve green spaces, to promote the mixture of use of local and architectural structures, to strengthen the center of the city and the district unit center of the city, and to strengthen the centrality of small and medium sized cities box through regional linkages between local governments.

○ This study makes effort to be able to refer to much information, knowledge, and reality application as a reference material of large city and small and medium urban regeneration which is currently being carried out in Korea.

○ Through the Korea Green Policy Research Institute run by the researchers in the future, the city administration and regeneration projects in Korea and Germany, various interdisciplinary research exchanges related to this and the urban regeneration area forum will be activated, Can help with administration.
